The Sounding City Project is an attempt to fully utilize the 5G infrastructure of Tokyo, and to add another virtual layer of sound and music to the city of Nishi-Shinjuku. One of the inhouse creative boutiques of ADK, addict, is participating in the Nishi-Shinjuku Innovative Service Implementation Consortium with a venture started up by the Tokyo University of the Arts called coton. For the first year, the following projects were conducted: Sound Garden, a walk intertwining sound, body, and scenery; soundtope, an ecosystem of sound that resonates with “now” and “here;” Sounding Building, a forest of sound performed by the buildings; and Ku-kan Instrument, human letters of sound created by participants. These projects promoted the implementation of innovative technology services in the Nishi-Shinjuku area.
