To seek more new accounts from the Kansai region, au Jibun Bank became an official sponsor for the Hanshin Tigers professional baseball team. The task was to come up with a charming idea that would allow this newcomer to the Kansai region to be accepted, and the idea generated was the “staircase with the ultimate choice.” Messages on the staircase gave two options. One side read, “I am already a Hanshin Tigers fan.” And the other side, “I will become a Hanshin Tigers fan.” This meant fans of other baseball teams could not climb the stairs and led to many hilarious comments on social media.
Nation-wide TV programs and many web media such as Yahoo! News introduced these stairs and led to more than 10,000 tweets on Twitter (now X). This idea successfully raised awareness of au Jibun Bank’s sponsorship of the Tigers, and increased engagement with fans of the Kansai baseball team.
